Fall Daze

     Walking out into the woods always makes me a bit whimsical and a little giddy. When I was a little girl, I always dreamed of going into the woods and finding that fairies and sprites and all sorts of magical beings and creatures really did exist. Corny, I know, but it always feels like there’s something a lot more primal in the roots. Something a lot older than anything in recorded memory. You feel this almost innate feeling of being completely surrounded by nature. By just being around the trees, and the wind, and the sun I feel like it’s the only time that I can actually breathe. I feel like I can think out in those trees and I guess it takes me back to being a kid and not really having to think about being an adult just yet. A life of no worries and of being someone who doesn’t really want to give up on her childhood dreams just yet.

So, I love being in the woods. If you can, take the time to go out for a walk sometime soon. It’s one of those unforgivingly simple pleasures that I think is too easily overlooked nowadays. What with going out to the trees more often, I feel like I’m the most at peace with myself than I have been in a long time. You don’t necessarily have to be in the woods to feel this. Go to the oceans, a mountain range, a field, and just listen to the world, to mother nature, and just be. Remind yourself that you are mother nature incarnate. You are a living creature of this earth and humble yourself with that idea for a minute. That you are no more important than the birds or the insects or the grubs in the trees. You are not any more. But you are no less either.
